En IGNITE Serious Play we have also had our end of the course bringing together our teaching staff. We love sharing our experiences and impressions and working towards improvement. To do this, our pedagogical director, Cristina Galván, brought us together and we worked as a teaching team during the last morning of the course.

The session had 3 moments: 1) self-assessment of knowledge and skills; 2) share our “star activity”; 3) our expectations and our commitments.

We know that what is important in our classes and what makes the difference, on many occasions, is the teacher. For this reason, we begin the session by individually assessing our skills regarding the different materials with which we work. Our entire team is motivated to learn new technological and innovative tools, seeking creative activities and seeing our students develop as innovators. Thanks to the students we have also learned much more!

We have many of the activities planned at the beginning but you well know that according to the interests of each group we develop personalized projects, sometimes alternating and mixing several of our three major activities: educational robotics3D design and printingProgramming and Virtual Reality. Each of the teachers made the effort to select “our star activity”, the one that we stand out for the involvement, learning, innovation and fun of the students. We explained each of these activities and saw photographs and videos of the process. We'd really like to replicate them all! So much so that we have selected the TOP TOPs to explain them!

RUBIK'S HAND:

Are you reluctant to solve the Rubik's cube? Let's make a robot hand that solves it! In this case, we use the tools of Lego education to build the robot arm and implement block programming.

CHAIN ​​REACTION:

Does robotics seem like something individual to you? Look what happens when we put everyone's constructions together! This activity is very complete, because in it we apply all the skills STEAM (art, physics, crafts, construction engineering, …). In order to achieve a good result, we mix materials and tools (Lego education, cardboard, plasticine, marbles,…).

VIRTUAL REALITY:

We spend our childhood dreaming of our imaginary world... let's design it and see it with VR glasses! Virtual reality projects help our students work with 3D computer models, improving coordination and spatial reasoning skills.

Wow, we're out of batteries for our console controller... let's make our game and our controller!

AIRCRAFT LAUNCHER:

We're looking forward to a vacation and that's why... we launch our planes, to see who can go the furthest and the fastest!

 

 

From these 5 best activities, valued by our students and teachers, we were able to draw the conclusion that the most successful activities mix the 5 competencies. STEAM (Science – Technology – Engineering – Art – Mathematics), so for the next course, we will greatly enhance the combination of technologies with crafts and art, and our classes will adapt more to the concept. Maker; a “do it yourself” philosophy from scratch, using recycled materials and, in our case, always basing ourselves on sustainable development objectives, established in THE GLOBAL GOALS.

Now, once each of the projects had been assessed (the benefits, the difficulties, the alternatives...) we became a little more serious and looked ahead to the next year. By developing a list of expectations and commitments on the part of each one of us, we hope to improve our daily lives to give you the best.

These days we continue working designing international projects with the usual materials and the latest developments. We will continue with our project work methodologies, using Visual and Design Thinking and the Gamification. And, above all, learning with everyone and from everyone.
