La artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way we interact with technology and the world around us in record time. From recommendation algorithms on streaming platforms to autonomous driving systems, or ChatGPT, AI is increasingly present in many aspects of our daily lives. 

Everything indicates that our children will live with these assistants in the near future, but how can we explain the basics of something so complex?

An exciting and effective way to explore artificial intelligence is through Minecraft Education, a platform that combines creativity and fun with practical learning. In IA Camp, this holy Week You will have the opportunity to experience it, with a very special adventure that not only allows students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration skills, but also gives them the opportunity to directly experiment with AI and programming concepts.

During this technology camp, participants will explore innovative concepts such as programming with agents, machine learning or pattern recognition, among others. They will use this knowledge to develop their own artificial intelligence: "the agent", with the goal of transforming it into the perfect assistant for Minecraft players.

The activity will take place from the 25 to the March 28 in time of 15.30 to 18.30h, comprising three types of activities: exploration of new AI concepts, programming in Code Builder and free construction with Minecraft, with a wide variety of ways to experiment with new knowledge.

  • Real world applications: Through projects in Minecraft Education, students can explore real-world applications of artificial intelligence. For example, they could design and program an automated farming system within the game, which simulates how artificial intelligence is used to optimize crops and improve yields.

At IGNITE Serious Play, we are committed to innovation in education and have actively incorporated artificial intelligence concepts into our in-person and online activities using Minecraft Education as a medium. One of the ways we do this is through coding challenges with the Minecraft Education agent.

The agent is a virtual character within Minecraft that students can program to perform different actions within the game. In our programming challenges, students face challenges where they must understand the objective of the activity and program the agent to make its own decisions to escape from mazes, create crops, fight monsters, among others. In this process, students learn about fundamental concepts such as conditions, loops, and pattern recognition, while developing logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and having fun.

But the experience with artificial intelligence in Minecraft Education is not limited to agent programming. Through tools such as redstone, which simulates the behavior of electricity, students automate processes within the game. For example, they design electrical circuits that turn lights on and off or activate mechanisms automatically, giving them a practical understanding of how the principles of artificial intelligence apply in the real world.
