Learn to program with Scratch

In this period of confinement at home, one of the environments where we have worked on the computational thinking competence is the portal Scratch.

Programming with Scratch.

Program with Scratch It has allowed us to work in an online environment, where each student with their credentials has created their own routines and programs under the narrative 'JOIN THE RESISTANCE'.

Programming is one of the skills that we work on in technological extracurricular activities in educational centers, especially in the Primary educational stage.

We manage programming with Scratch both in the Infant stage with Scratch Junior, and in the Primary educational stage. When we manage extracurricular programming activities in Secondary School, we begin a process of learning more complex programming languages such as Python and Javascript.

In our extracurricular programming activities, called 'CODE CLUB', we personalize learning for each of the students, where we help them develop their most creative ideas, with the purpose set by the pedagogical direction of IGNITE Serious Play.

For extracurricular programming, this academic year we have worked on extracurricular online projects around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Tokyo Olympic Games; also specific projects to understand the current social environment, such as 'JOIN THE RESISTANCE' against the COVID virus.

Educational projects in online extracurricular format.

Through a series of weekly missions, our students from Barcelona, Madrid, Zaragoza and other cities in Spain have enjoyed the scope of programming; and they have done so to the point that our students have positioned their works in the TOP-4 of the World Ranking in Scratch.

We are very proud of our students, who have adapted perfectly to the educational project in an online extracurricular format.

The technological extracurricular 'CODING CLUB', where we use programming with Scratch; It allows us to develop computational thinking skills transversally for other environments.

That is, programming with Scratch allows us, as integration 'middleware', to be able to program commercial robots such as those from LEGO Education, Makeblock, etc. Also in 3D development and design environments such as Cospaces and Minecraft. Therefore, learning to program with Scratch is basic. A first step in the development of new STEAM, multi-environment and multi-manufacturer competencies.

Eg programming with Scratch on a video game like Minecraft, allows us to develop a solid pedagogical project; Within an avatar, the students together with the teacher collaborate as a team programming with Scratch, developing a series of very motivating and exciting missions for Primary and Secondary students.

Knowing how to program with a programming language interpreted as Scratch is strategic for our students to evolve in project work in the different extracurricular activities that we manage.

Especially programming with Scratch allows us a webservice environment, ideal in virtual learning with ONLINE extracurricular activities: Programming, 3D Design and Graphic Art.
